Well, I still haven't decided on a new account name, mainly because I haven't had time to care.
Had the surgery I was worrying about done last week. Wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. Yesterday I was finally able to sit again without back pain...which was just in time for Half-Life 2: Episode 1.
Unlike most of my fellow goons over at the SomethingAwful Forums, I was able to play the game completely error-free. It was amazing. It was orgasmic. It unlocked and was playable through Steam at noon, and I beat it around 3:30pm. Short yes but definately sweet and worth $20. The preview for episode 2 was visually stunning as well.

creepy parts of the game:
-The "zombine" talking, because its the headcrab interfacing with their AI making weird creepy noises and its shouting out orders in a deep gutteral manner. Holy crap.
-Fighting a horde of zombies in a lightless area while waiting for an elevator, and your only light source is your suit's flashlight and a few roadflares that die out in a couple seconds. That was plain old creepy.
-The stalker train. The fucking stalker train. When it crashes and they all start screaming oh God oh God oh God
-The Combine Advisors and their damn mind blasts.
overall, the ending wasn't the greatest because it ends much like the original HL2: right in the middle of an important event. At least it makes me want to buy episode 2 when it comes out. I want to see more of those Mini-Striders.

1 more week until stiches come out, so that gives me time to play more Ragnarok Online, draw, and come up with a freakin screenname already. This shouldn't be hard, but it is. Jeez.
